MZ TR MELZER Microbe-control in Formulated Oils Microtreat MZ TR is a most convenient and popular preservative for use in aqueous cutting fluids. It works as formaldehyde-donating compound, which is responsible for preventing the growth of microbes in circulating fluids. It is supplied as an organic liquid, in most active form, which remains sufficiently parted in emulsified petroleum oil and fully soluble in water, and therefore easy to add and disperse in undiluted fluid, and becomes active after dilution with water. Though the cutting fluid then remains as an emulsion, Microtreat MZ TR protects both, the base-oil from microbial degradation and overall aqueous phase of emulsion from microbial growth. Microtreat MZ TR has broad spectrum of activity against a range of microorganisms, and is expected to have controlled release of active formal to prevent the microbial growth, aerobic as also anaerobic. It also acts as hydrogen sulphide scavenger regardless of carbon di oxide level in water, and therefore keeps formulation free of foul odor. Microtreat MZ TR helps to maintain pH of the system to slightly alkaline/ neutral range and is non-corrosive towards the exposed metal. It does not lead to early bio-resistance. However, it is recommended to use the tank-side additive, either Microcheck MZ 3W or Microcheck MZ 36, which establishes control on water quality from microbial view point, and extends the life of the water-diluted cutting fluid. It does not contain phosphates, chromates or silicates. It is easily biodegradable and thus environment friendly.
